Istanbul Data Recovery: Corporate Service from Ankara Hacettepe Teknokent

TL;DR: DSET provides data recovery to corporate and individual customers in Istanbul from its central laboratory at Ankara Hacettepe Teknokent, using insured shipping and remote coordination. HDD, SSD, RAID, NAS, mobile devices, servers and post-ransomware recovery are all within scope. An ISO/IEC 27037 compliant process, a 99.4 percent success rate, a KVKK compliant mutual NDA, and a 24/7 emergency line at +90 536 662 38 09. The shipping procedure begins with a firm quote after a free intake assessment, and if no data is recovered, no fee is charged.

How Do You Reach DSET from Istanbul?

Reaching DSET from Istanbul may seem far at first, but the process runs in a highly orderly way. We follow these six steps:

  1. Preliminary assessment call: You call our number +90 536 662 38 09 or send a short email to [email protected]. The device type, the failure symptom and the criticality level of the data are discussed.
  2. Packaging instructions: Written instructions for an anti-static bag, at least three layers of bubble wrap, a rigid outer box, and the insurance declared value are sent to you over WhatsApp.
  3. Insured shipping: You send it via Aras Kargo VIP, MNG insured, Yurtiçi Plus or UPS Express. The shipment tracking number is shared with us.
  4. Diagnosis in Ankara: As soon as the device reaches the Hacettepe Teknokent laboratory, the physical diagnosis begins. In most cases a preliminary report is produced within 24 hours.
  5. Firm quote and approval: After the diagnosis, the price, time and technical scope are conveyed in writing. Not a single step is taken without the customer's approval.
  6. Recovery and delivery: After the data is extracted, it is returned by insured shipping on an encrypted HDD/SSD, or digital delivery is made via a secure cloud link.

Throughout the entire process, a single phone number, a single project manager and a daily progress report are our standard.

Why Not a Physical Office in Istanbul?

This is the question customers ask most often. The answer has to do with the technical requirements of service quality.

Data recovery is not work done on a computer repairman's bench. It requires a cleanroom at the ISO 14644-1 Class 100 level, professional imager hardware (PC-3000 UDMA, DeepSpar Disk Imager, MRT Lab), a stock of thousands of donor parts (HDD PCB, NAND chips, head assemblies), soldering equipment at the electron-microscope level, and personnel with at least 10 years of digital forensics experience. Replicating this infrastructure city by city is both unsustainable in terms of investment and a source of quality inconsistency. Achieving 99.4 percent success in one laboratory while dropping to 70 percent at a second location due to a shortage of donor parts is irresponsible toward the customer.

DSET concentrates its service quality at the Ankara base and reaches the Istanbul customer through a shipping chain. Remote coordination, video calls and a daily progress report are standard. The vast majority of firms that open a fake branch and claim "in-city service" ship the device on to yet another laboratory anyway. We remove this intermediary; the customer deals directly with the source.

Service Tailored to Istanbul's Sectors

Finance and Banking

Istanbul is the heart of Turkish finance. For the banks, insurance companies, card processors and fintechs in the Levent, Maslak and Ataşehir Financial Center, the KVKK and BDDK compliance process is critical. With the corporate customers we work with, an annual framework agreement, a mutual NDA, a chain-of-custody record and a forensic-report option are part of the standard package. The data does not leave the country, and the KVKK data-controller responsibility is guaranteed in writing.

E-Commerce and Technology

The Maslak, Şişli, Levent and Kozyatağı corporate centers. Large technology companies and hundreds of SMEs have a critical dependency on the customer database, order records and payment logs. PostgreSQL, MySQL and MongoDB virtual-disk cases, AWS EBS snapshot recovery, and VMware ESXi VMDK and Hyper-V VHDX recoveries come frequently.

Logistics and Maritime

Istanbul is Türkiye's logistics center. For the Ambarlı, Haydarpaşa and Tuzla ports, cargo companies, warehouse operators and international shipping firms, ERP/WMS data and IoT sensor records are critical data that halt operations. RAID 5/6 and NAS recovery requests come heavily from this sector.

Manufacturing and Industry

The Tuzla, Gebze and Çerkezköy line is the backbone of Turkish industry. With the Industry 4.0 transformation, SCADA logs, MES records, quality-control images and PLC programs are now digital assets. A SQL Server crash can cause a line to halt for weeks. In these cases, DSET responds on site within 24 hours with priority intervention.

Law Firms

For the large law firms in Galata, Levent, Maslak and Beşiktaş, client files, case records and contract archives are the most sensitive data class. Attorney-client privilege, KVKK special-category data and forensic chain-of-custody requirements intersect in the same case. ISO/IEC 27037 compliant forensic-report requests come from this sector.

Healthcare

For large hospital chains and private clinics such as Acıbadem, Memorial, Medical Park and Florence Nightingale, the HIS, PACS imaging and laboratory-information-system data fall into the KVKK's special-category. An additional protection level, an isolation protocol and a data-subject consent chain are carried out together with the standard process.

Which Devices Do We Recover From?

The short list: HDD (3.5" and 2.5" mechanical), SSD (SATA, mSATA), NVMe M.2, RAID 0/1/5/6/10/50/60, NAS (Synology, QNAP, Asustor, Buffalo, Western Digital), iPhone and Android phones, USB sticks, SD/microSD/CF cards, server systems (HP ProLiant, Dell PowerEdge, Lenovo ThinkSystem), VMware/Hyper-V/Proxmox virtual disks, LTO tape, and old IDE/SCSI disks. For the full list, you can see the Data Recovery Guide 2026 article.

Shipping and Packaging Guide

HDD and SSD

An anti-static bag is mandatory (a blue ESD bag, NOT a plastic grocery bag). At least three layers of bubble wrap. A rigid cardboard box, with additional foam padding inside. Outer label: "FRAGILE," "THIS WAY UP," "ELECTRONICS." The insurance declared value is the device value plus the estimated business value of the data.

RAID and NAS (multi-disk)

Each disk is packaged separately and labeled with its slot number (Slot 1, Slot 2, ...). The device itself is sent empty with the disks removed. This prevents additional vibration-induced head damage during shipping. If you have the RAID configuration information (RAID level, stripe size, disk order), it should be written on an A4 sheet and placed in the box.

Phone

An anti-static bag, a low battery level (below 30 percent), airplane mode on, the SIM card removed. In water-damage cases the device is NOT placed in rice; it is wrapped in a dry cloth and sent immediately.

Choice of Carrier

Aras Kargo VIP, MNG insured shipping, Yurtiçi Plus and UPS Express are the preferred ones. The insurance declared value is written as the sum of the device value plus the estimated value of the data inside. This also changes the shipping company's packaging priority.

Remote Coordination

After a case is accepted, a short progress note is sent at the end of each business day. Communication is open via WhatsApp Business, email or Microsoft Teams. In critical cases, a video call is held over Google Meet or Teams, where we turn the camera into the lab to show the live status. This transparency makes a physical office visit largely unnecessary.

Delivery Process

There are three delivery options:

  1. Return by insured shipping on an encrypted HDD/SSD: The most frequently preferred. The data is encrypted with AES-256, and the password is conveyed over a separate channel.
  2. SFTP or a secure cloud link: For cases under 500 GB. The link is single-use, valid for 72 hours, IP-restricted.
  3. Pickup in person from Ankara: The customer or an authorized courier picks it up against a signature from the Hacettepe Teknokent office.

Time and Shipping Time

A typical HDD case takes 3 to 7 business days, RAID/NAS 5 to 10 business days, and post-ransomware 7 to 14 business days. The Istanbul-Ankara shipping time is 1 to 2 business days outbound and 1 to 2 business days for the return. In urgent cases, an overnight shipping or dedicated courier option is available, in which case the total time can drop below 24 hours.

The Advantage of Being Close to Ankara

DSET also serves its local Ankara data recovery customers. The Hacettepe Teknokent base is in a strategic location for both Ankara and Türkiye as a whole. Motherboard manufacturers, defense-industry clusters (ASELSAN, ROKETSAN, HAVELSAN), TÜBİTAK BİLGEM and large university research laboratories are along this line. This ecosystem is a significant advantage in terms of donor-part sourcing and technical collaboration. The Istanbul customer in fact also benefits from this ecosystem.

The Most Frequent Cases from Istanbul

  1. A collapsed RAID 5/6 array: Multiple-disk failure, a controller fault, a second disk dropping out during a rebuild. For details, see the RAID 5 recovery article.
  2. Synology/QNAP NAS firmware corruption: The volume failing to mount after a DSM/QTS update, btrfs/ext4 corruption.
  3. Sudden SSD death: A controller-chip fault, a firmware crash, not being recognized after a BSOD.
  4. Post-ransomware recovery: Recovery from backups and shadow copies on systems encrypted by variants such as LockBit, BlackCat and Conti.
  5. iPhone water damage: The classic accident frequently experienced in offices with a Bosphorus view.
  6. A burned-out MacBook logic board: NAND chip-off and logic-board repair on T2/M1/M2 chipped models.
  7. Server disk failure: Enterprise SAS/NL-SAS disks, RAID controller cache battery problems.

Corporate SLA

For large corporate customers in Istanbul, we offer an annual framework agreement. This agreement covers: priority response (technical contact within 4 hours), a 24/7 emergency line, an assigned project manager, a daily written progress report, a KVKK-compliant process, the option of a forensic report in accordance with the ISO/IEC 27037 standard, and an annual disaster-recovery drill. The annual framework reduces the per-case price by up to 20 percent and guarantees the response time.

KVKK and Confidentiality

The DSET process is fully compliant with the KVKK Personal Data Protection Law. A mutual NDA is signed in every case. The data recovery lab is air-gapped, that is, completely isolated from the public network. SHA-256 hash verification is performed before and after delivery, and a record is signed. After recovery, the source images are permanently destroyed in accordance with the NIST SP 800-88 Purge standard highlighted by USOM and international guidelines, and a destruction record is given to the customer. Customer data never leaves the country under any circumstances, is not shared with third parties, and is not uploaded to any cloud provider.

The ISO/IEC 27037 standard is applied throughout the process as the guideline for the identification, collection, acquisition and preservation of digital evidence. In cases where a legal process is possible, a reporting option compliant with TÜBİTAK BİLGEM standards is offered.

How Much Does It Cost?

We price each case individually; quoting a "price over the phone" is neither ethical nor anything but misleading. There can be a tenfold difference between an HDD's circuit-board problem and a head-assembly failure. The process is as follows:

  1. The phone consultation is free.
  2. The shipping is at your expense.
  3. The physical diagnosis is free.
  4. A firm quote is presented in writing.
  5. If you approve, the work begins.
  6. If the data is recovered, the agreed fee is charged.
  7. If no data is recovered, no fee is charged, only the return shipping cost is the customer's responsibility.

There are no hidden fees, no "lab opening" or "preliminary assessment" charge.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Is shipping from Istanbul to Ankara safe?

Yes, insured shipping is the standard method. When the correct packaging instructions are followed, the risk is minimal.

Can I bring the device myself and deliver it in person?

Of course. You can deliver it in person to our Hacettepe Teknokent office by appointment. Some corporate customers send their courier specially.

What happens if the shipment is lost in transit?

Compensation over the insurance declared value is obtained from the shipping company. However, since data compensation is not possible, for critical data we recommend that you confirm the existence of a backup.

Is same-day service possible?

With an urgent courier or overnight shipping option, the device can reach Ankara the same day. Diagnosis is same-day, and recovery depends on the case.

Do you also serve from other cities?

Yes. We accept devices by shipping from Izmir, Bursa, Antalya, Adana, Gaziantep, Trabzon and all 81 provinces. We also accept customs-cleared shipments from abroad.

Do you pay the shipping cost if no data is recovered?

If no data is recovered, no service fee is charged, and the return shipping cost is the customer's responsibility. In some corporate SLA packages, the return shipping is also included in the package.

How is a corporate quote obtained?

Send a short corporate-needs note to [email protected]. Within 24 hours, an annual framework agreement draft and price tiers reach you.

Do you have an authorized dealer in Istanbul?

No. DSET provides its service only from its Ankara base and directly. Do not give credence to third parties who say "I am a DSET representative"; please first confirm by calling +90 536 662 38 09.
