Samsung SSD Data Recovery: T7, 870 EVO, 980 Pro and Hardware Encryption

Quick answer: Did your Samsung SSD vanish suddenly, disappear from BIOS or show 0 bytes? The T5/T7 portables, 870 EVO SATA and 980 Pro NVMe are fast, but on failure data sits behind Samsung's own controller (MEX, Phoenix, Elpis), V-NAND and a hardware encryption layer. Attempts without the right tools lose data. DSET recovers Samsung SSDs with specific experience in its Hacettepe Teknokent lab. First diagnosis free, no data no fee. Emergency: +90 536 662 38 09.

Why Samsung architecture needs a specific approach

Samsung builds the whole chain, NAND, controller and firmware. Data lives physically in 3D V-NAND, but only the controller's mapping table (FTL), often encrypted, knows where each piece is. When the controller fails, the mapping must be rebuilt even if NAND is intact, which means reversing Samsung's algorithm.

Known model specific issues

  • 870 EVO (SATA): some batches reported firmware instability and sudden disappearance, controller failure is common, Samsung released a firmware update, but if it already failed recovery is needed.
  • 980 Pro (NVMe): some drives reported rapid "health" drop turning read only or unrecognized, Samsung issued a firmware fix, if already dead, tech access to the NVMe controller extracts data.
  • T5 / T7 (portable): hardware encryption, sudden removal or a drop needs a special process, no data without the password.

TRIM warning

If something was deleted by mistake, stop using the drive, Magician and the OS keep TRIM on, wiping deleted data in seconds. See the TRIM truth.

First response

Do not write, format or run downloaded tools, power off and bring it the same day, time is critical due to TRIM. For an encrypted T7, have your password/key ready.

Why DSET

Since 2003, experience with Samsung controllers (MEX, Phoenix, Elpis), V-NAND reading and hardware encryption. See the price list.

FAQ

Encrypted T7? Yes with your password, not without. 870 EVO died? High success for controller and firmware faults when NAND is intact. 980 Pro read only or gone? Do not write, bring it in, tech access usually recovers it. Which models? T5, T7, T9, 860/870 EVO, 970/980/990 Pro, PM series and others.
