Ankara SSD Data Recovery: Controller, NAND and Encrypted Drive Expertise
Quick answer: Did your SSD suddenly vanish, disappear from BIOS, show 0 bytes or drop into a protective "SAFE MODE"? At our Hacettepe Teknokent lab in Ankara we recover data from SATA SSD, NVMe and M.2 drives. SSD recovery is a different discipline from hard drives: data sits not on a spinning platter but behind a controller chip, in NAND flash, behind an encryption and mapping (FTL) layer. Any attempt without the right tools and method can lose data permanently. First diagnosis free, no data no fee. Line: +90 536 662 38 09.
Why SSDs recover differently from hard drives
On a hard drive, data is written to magnetic platters at a fixed address. On an SSD, the controller constantly moves data across NAND cells for performance and endurance (wear leveling) and tracks this in a Flash Translation Layer (FTL) table. So the logical address the OS sees is not where the data physically lives. When the controller or this table fails, data becomes unreadable even if the NAND chips are intact. Recovery means reading the raw NAND and reversing the controller's algorithm to rebuild the files.
Most common SSD faults we see in Ankara
| Fault | Symptom | Approach |
|---|---|---|
| Controller failure | Not recognized, 0 bytes, wrong capacity | Tech mode access, firmware repair |
| NAND wear | Slowdown, read errors, corruption | Cell level read, ECC recompute |
| Firmware/FTL corruption | "SAFE MODE", visible but unreadable | Vendor tech mode table rebuild |
| Sudden power loss | Won't boot, broken file system | Depends on power loss protection (PLP) |
| Physical/electronic damage | Burn smell, dead | Board repair, chip off if needed |
Controller failure is the most common case, the drive works one day and is gone the next. The good news is the NAND is usually intact and success is high. See our NVMe and M.2 guide and SSD died, no BIOS.
The TRIM reality: why deleted SSD data vanishes fast
On a hard drive a deleted file stays until overwritten, so it is recoverable. On an SSD, TRIM tells the controller those blocks are free and it physically wipes them in the background (garbage collection), often within seconds. TRIM is on by default in modern Windows, macOS and Linux. So if something was deleted by mistake, stop using the drive now, every second reduces the data. See does deleted SSD data come back, the TRIM truth.
Encrypted SSDs: BitLocker, OPAL and hardware encryption
Most modern SSDs use encryption even if you never noticed: BitLocker on Windows, TCG OPAL on enterprise drives, hardware encryption on Samsung and others. The golden rule: without the key, data cannot be decrypted, this is security, not a flaw. For BitLocker you need your 48 digit recovery key (in your Microsoft account or company Active Directory) or password. Bring your recovery key if you have it, it greatly improves speed and success.
First response, do and do not
Do: power off and stop using it, find your BitLocker key, get it to an expert the same day (time is critical due to TRIM). Do not: format, accept "initialize disk", run downloaded recovery tools (most write to the SSD), or follow freezer myths.

FAQ
Is SSD recovery really possible? Often yes, high for controller and firmware faults when NAND is intact. Encrypted SSD? Yes with your key or password, not without. Visible but files won't open, urgent? Yes, likely FTL or file system corruption, power off and bring it in. When is the price set? After free diagnosis, in writing, no data no fee.
