The History of DSET Academy: Origins, Methodology and Today
On our academic origins, the journey from our founding year to the present day, and what we do and why.
An idea, a laboratory, a vision
The foundations of DSET were laid in 2003, in the quiet corridors of Hacettepe University. When the term "cyber security" had not yet become popular, a small academic team was questioning how the concept of digital evidence could find its place in Turkish legal practice.
The computer was not merely a calculator — it was a crime scene, a witness, sometimes a victim.
The early years: From a thesis to a discipline
When our first academic publications were on digital forensics methodology, we were not considered the founders of the field; we were simply the ones asking questions. How is the integrity of evidence preserved? What is done when all the disks of a RAID array fail? Can deleted messages be recovered from a mobile phone?
The answers to these questions form the foundation of the services we still provide today.
Today
Today, with over 20 years of academic and technical experience, we serve all 81 provinces of Turkey. From our center at Hacettepe Teknokent, we solve the problems of both individual users and organizations on the scale of the Fortune 500.
Our philosophy is simple: quality is never a coincidence.
