RAID Recovery Cost Estimator
Select disk count, capacity, RAID type and damage type. Based on factors from DSET's 20+ years of field experience, you get your case complexity score, an estimated time range and the main items that drive cost.
Describe your case
Process expectation: Full clone of each disk plus virtual rebuild plus file system layer extraction.
How the scoring works
This tool scores RAID recovery complexity in three dimensions: (1) Structural complexity (RAID type, disk count, parity layout), (2) Damage type (logical, electronic, mechanical, multi) and (3) Urgency and donor part need. A low total (1-3 points) means a standard timeframe, a high total (8-10 points) means a process reaching multi disk cloning, virtual rebuild and chip off.
Where do these numbers come from?
- URE math in RAID 5: On 8 TB and larger disks the chance of a second disk throwing a URE during rebuild is high. See the RAID 5 recovery guide.
- SHR multi segment structure: Synology SHR differs from classic RAID 5, each segment must be extracted separately. See Synology recovery.
- Donor part stock: Sourcing the same model PCB, head stack or motor takes time for some models. Your case may need clean room work in our Hacettepe Teknokent lab.
The result is not a firm quote. The exact price is provided in writing only after a physical diagnosis. First diagnosis is free, and there is no fee if no data is recovered.
